Girly - Girl

Hi there!
Today I have a girly, girl card for the latest A La Card Monkey Challenge. Here is the brief:

Just think "girly-girl" and sit down to create something that's full of sugar and spice and everything nice.

Here is the sketch. For my card I turned the sketch on its side, to fit with my image. This card is for a sweet little friend who is about to turn four. I hope she loves it!

I made this ruffled ribbon by adhering double sided tape to the back of the satin ribbon. I then ruffled and stuck down white seam binding on each side of the satin ribbon. Here is a close up of the ribbon detail.

I have used the Create a Cupcake stamp set and the Build a Cupcake punch to make my cupcake. I have used some champagne shimmer mist on the top of the white icing and the pink flowers, not sure if it shows up in the photo.

Materials:
(All SU unless otherwise stated)
Stamp sets: Create a Cupcake, Occasional Quotes
Cardstock/ DSP: Whisper White, Pretty in Pink, Pink Pirrouette, Regal Rose
Inks: Regal Rose, Blushing Bride
Markers:
Accessories: Build a Cupcake Punch, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Seam Binding, Clear Rhinestone Brad, Satin Ribbon, Itty Bitty Flower Punch, Pink Rhinestones (own stash), Doily Die (own stash)

What a Delight!

Hi there!

Today I am going to show you a Mother's Day card I made for my Mother in Law. Be prepared, as it isn't my usual colour choice.....but I do like it! It was inspired by a card made by the very talented Monika Davis.  I saw her card and thought, wow, that is bright....but effective.....and i like it! So here is my Daffodil Delight!

Obviously the colours are Daffodil Delight.....Crumb Cake and Whisper White. I have used the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder on the Daffodil card. The background stamp on the Crumb Cake card is from the Easter Blossoms Set and the sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments. The main flower and stamped leaves are from the Petal Pizzazz set and the punched white stems are from the 2 Step Bird Punch. I have used the Mat Pack and the Paper Piercing Tool to pierce the tiny holes. The 'for you' sentiment is stamped onto a piece of card, punched with the Modern Label Punch and layered onto a piece of Vanilla Card, punched with the Oval Punch. I have used the Scallop Trim Border Punch to add the Crumb Cake detail at the top. The ribbon detail is finished with a Big Designer Button, Rhinestones and Baker's Twine. Here is a close up of the detail:

I also replicated the flower detail on the inside of the card:

As I've said before, I love to match the present wrapping with the card (when I have time!). So I have used the flower detail once again on the package. I coloured some Seam Binding with my SU! Markers to make some ribbon leaves.

I will be back to show you the card that I made for my mum soon.

Materials:
(All SU unless otherwise stated)
Stamp sets: Petal Pizzazz, Easter Blossoms, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Cardstock/ DSP: Whisper White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight
Inks: Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight
Markers: Old Olive
Accessories: Scallop Trim Border Punch, Big Designer Button, Baker's Twine (own stash), Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, 2 Step Bird Punch, Modern Label Punch, Oval Punch, Mat Pack, Paper Piercing Tool, Rhinestones (own stash)

And it's back!!

Blogger is back! Did you all have withdrawals when Blogger went down like I did? No posts in Google Reader, no commenting on posts and no posting of my own!

Today I have one of those cards that we wish we don't have to make, but unfortunately sometimes do. A sympathy card.

I have used last weeks sketch from A La Card Monkey. Last weeks, as the challenge closed while Blogger was down, so I couldn't post my card. Luckily for me Terry over at A La Card Monkey kindly posted my pic on their site for me. Thanks Terry! Here is the sketch:

The Challenge this week was to follow the sketch and use some flowers on your card. I have used Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White and Crumb Cake as my colour palette. I love the Manhattan Flower embossing folder, but haven't had a chance to give it much use, so I pulled it out for this challenge.

I also used the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing folder for the background and the sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments. I have finished it off with a double bow using Seam Binding and some green flowers. Here is a close up of the ribbon/flower detail:
I wanted to keep the inside pretty simple as I wanted to leave a fair bit of room to write. I have stamped one of the flowers from Fifth Avenue Floral to match the Manhattan Embossing Folder.

Materials:
(All SU unless otherwise stated)
Stamp sets: Teeny Tiny Sentiments, Fifth Avenue Floral
Cardstock/ DSP: Crumb Cake,Whisper White, Pear Pizzazz
Inks: Pear Pizzazz

Accessories: Seam Binding, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Manhattan Flower Embossing Folder, Flowers (own stash), Scallop Trim Border Punch

Just Add Ink Inspiration

Hi there!

Today I have another card made using the Easter Blossoms Set. I have used a sketch from over at Just Add Ink for inspiration.

I just love this sketch it really caught my eye! And now for the card....

I have used Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla and Rich Razzleberry for this card. I started with a Crumb Cake base and stamped the blossoms in Crumb Cake ink. I then used the Top Note Big Shot Die (LOVE this!) to cut a piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock, which I then put through the Big Shot once more using the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.
The girl was stamped in Chocolate Chip ink onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and mounted onto a piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock. I once again covered the eggs in the basket with flowers. These were inked in Rich Razzleberry and stuck onto the basket with some dimensionals. The DSP at the bottom is from the Brights DSP Stack and was punched using the eyelet border.
I have used satin ribbon (Rich Razzleberry) to tie a double bow and have secured them together with a Clear Rhinestone Brad, put through a small Crumb Cake flower.

This week I am aiming to use the Easter Blossoms set to actually make some Easter cards! But I love the images and how versatile they are.

Materials:
(All SU unless otherwise stated)
Stamp sets: Easter Blossoms
Cardstock/ DSP: Brights Collection Patterns DSP Stack, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Rich Razzleberry
Inks: Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake, Rich Razzleberry
Accessories: Satin Ribbon (Rich Razzleberry),  Dimensionals, Clear Rhinestone Brad, Eyelet Border, Top Note Die, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder

Sketchbook Saturday Challenge and Totally Hues

I'm getting game now! Today I have incorporated two challenges into the one card. I didn't think I was going to pull this one off, but I am quite pleased with the result. I was very unsure about using these colours together (Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango, Baja Breeze and Tempting Turquoise) but in the end I think I have found a good balance.

I have used the first sketch from Chupa's new challenge, Sketchbook Saturday, (I just love this girls work!) combined with the Totally Hues Colour Challenge.

I have added Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla as my neutral colours.

I started with a Tempting Turquoise base and used the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder on the Baja cardstock to add interest to my background.  I have used the a la carte All a Flutter stamp and the Artistic Etchings set. The sentiment is from the lovely Well Scripted from the Summer Mini. I just love this set!!

I have stamped the butterfly in black Staz On and coloured it using stamp pads and Blender Pens. I then used Crystal Effects on the top to brighten the colours and give a glossy effect.

The sentiment was layered onto a tag made with a Lots a Tags Sizzlit.

I have decorated the inside very simply.

A late addition: These cards have also been entered into 'The Kraft Journal's' Spring Fling Challenge.  The brief is to use Kraft cardstock and to use the inspiration of the Spring Fling theme.

Materials:
(All SU unless otherwise stated)
Stamp sets: All a Flutter, Well Scripted, Artistic Etchings
Cardstock/ DSP: Very Vanilla, Tempting Turquoise, Baja Breeze, Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango, Crumb Cake
Inks: Tempting Turquoise, Pumpkin Pie, Tangerine Tango
Accessories: Taffeta Ribbon, Dimensionals, Crystal Effects, Lots a Tags Sizzlit, Large Oval Punch, 1 3/4" Circle Punch, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder

Two Birds with One Stone

I have scheduled this post, as I knew today was going to be a busy day. I hope it worked!

Today's cards were inspired by Monika Davis of M.A.D. Stamper. I killed two birds with one stone by flipping the sketch for the second card.

The first card was landscape and I used the colours Crumb Cake and the now retired Orchid Opulence (I love this colour). The ribbon is actually Rich Razzleberry but I find the taffeta colours are a little different to the true colours, so it works well. I used my favourite embossing folder, Vintage Wallpaper as my background. Also you will notice I added my signature BLING!

This next card is my first attempt at using Marina Mist on one of my cards (You may begin to notice I am more a pink and purple type of girl).  I have paired it with Crumb Cake, am loving this colour at the moment!
I have flipped the sketch on this card to make it portrait and have added a strip of the Pinking Hearts Border Punch rather than the paper piercing edge. Use your Stamp-a-ma-jig (I love this thing!) to align your little birdy in its cage. Both sentiments are from the Sale-a-bration set, So Happy for You.

Click on the sidebar link to Sale-a-bration if you would like to get this stamp set for free.

I am really quite happy with both of these cards. I hope the recipients are too!

A late addition: These cards have also been entered into 'The Kraft Journal's' Spring Fling Challenge.  The brief is to use Kraft cardstock and to use the inspiration of the Spring Fling theme. I also entered it onto the 'There She Goes'  Get Krafty Challenge.

Materials:
(All SU unless otherwise stated)
Stamp sets: Aviary
Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Orchid Opulence (Retired), Marina Mist, Whisper White
Inks: Crumb Cake, Orchid Opulence (Retired) and Marina Mist
Accessories: 3/8" Taffets Ribbon (Rich Razzleberry and Marina Mist),Pinking Hearts Border Punch, Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder, Clear adhesive rhinestones
