Father's Day Take 1

Well three posts in four days is an improvement! I wonder how long I can keep this up? Thank you to everyone that left comments on my blog the last few days! It is really lovely of you and it makes my day to read them all!

To update you, I had a sad mishap with the card from my 'Sending Extra Love Your Way' post. This was a sympathy card I had made for a dear friend who had lost someone special. I went to the florist and had it sent with a bunch of flowers. I hadn't heard from my friend after they were sent, which I thought was quite strange. So I texted her to ask if she had got the flowers, which she hadn't. I was out and about, so on the way home I stopped in at the florist. She said that they had been sent and that the delivery guy had sent in his report to say that they had been delivered. So we were left with a big mystery!

My theory is that the delivery guy went to the wrong house and someone has accepted the flowers that aren't theirs!  The florist was very apologetic and bent over backwards to rectify the situation. She made another bunch up and delivered them to my friend herself after work on Saturday night. This would have taken her at least an hour out of her way round trip! I was very grateful that my friend received her flowers, but she didn't end up with my card! I can't believe someone would take flowers, when they are clearly not theirs, especially when they were in sympathy!!

Enough rambling from me! Today I am going to share one of the Father's Day cards I made. This one was for my FIL, Poppy Pete.

I used a Baja Breeze base and I then cut circles from various sheets of green DSP. I adhered these to the card and trimmed them to use these as the hills. I used the ever trust cupcake punch and lattice embossing folder to make my air balloon basket, and the cupcake frosting as clouds. I sprayed the clouds with some shimmer mist, though you can't see this in the photos. I used the 1 3/4" circle punch and the large oval punch to cut some retired DSP, which became the balloon. I attached this to the basket with some linen thread.

I finished it off with a sentiment flag. I used the 'happy' from the 'happy birthday' in the Grunge Rock set, and the 'Father's Day' from Teeny Tiny Sentiments. I stamped these onto some Crumbcake, using Baja Breeze ink and added a Designer Big Button and some baker's twine.

I decorated the inside quite simply, with some matching card stock and DSP.
