Peas in a Pod

Hi there!

I hope you are all having a good weekend. We had a much needed quiet day at home today. We did some chores that needed doing and I had a little inky time. Last night I went to see Motherhood the musical! It was hilarious! I laughed a lot and really enjoyed myself. It finishes tomorrow, so if you haven't seen it, unfortunately you may have missed out, unless they bring it back.

This afternoon my friend asked me to make a card for her SIL who is having twin baby boys. I was a little worried at first that I would lack inspiration. I pulled out my baby stamps and was looking at the So Cute set when I had a brainwave. There is a cute little pea pod stamp in this set...two peas in a pod....light bulb moment.

I decided to make a punch art pea pod, with two peas inside, signifying the twin boys.

I used the Nursery Suite DSP with some Pear Pizzazz and Baja Breeze CS.

I remembered that I had these little plastic dummies in my stash, and thought it would be cute to add two of these. I made a tag and hand wrote 'Two peas in a pod' onto it and tied it to the dummies and a blue bow. Here is a close up of the detail.

I decorated the inside of the card using matching DSP and used the little pea pod stamp from the So Cute set. I used markers to ink up the stamp, as I wanted to do the pea pod in green and the writing in blue.

I also used the same stamp to very simply decorate the envelope. I stamped the image twice to symbolise the 2 sweet peas that will be arriving!

I am really happy with this card, hopefully my friend will be as well!

Thanks for stopping by. Please leave me a comment if you have the time, they really make my day! If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask!

An Apple for the Teacher

Hi there.

A quick post and a very simple card tonight. I wanted to make a note card to give to my daughter's teacher to thank him for his teaching and caring during the first semester. She did very well and loves going to school, so I wanted to let him know we appreciate what he does. Since she has a male teacher I wanted something CAS.

I have taken a torn piece of Newsprint DSP and have used the spiral punch down the side, to make it look like it has been torn out of a notebook.

The sentiment is from the So Happy For You set, and the apple if from Tart and Tangy. I have covered the apple in crystal effects to give it some shine, and have popped it up on some dimensionals.

The inside is very simple. I have used a quote from the Occasional Quotes set, that I thought was very appropriate for a teacher. I also stamped another apple in the corner.

This fits in well with this weeks challenge over at The Paper Players, School Daze.

Thanks for looking, hope you have a great weekend!

Please leave me a comment, I just love to hear from you.

Owl Post it Note Holder

Hi there.

Today I have a cute birthday card and a matching acrylic post it note holder. I first saw these cute post it note holders here over at Heidi's blog.

These are for a dear friend of mine, whose birthday I missed! I had it in my phone, but it fell on a busy work day and I forgot! So I made her a few gifts to hopefully make up for it! I will be back later in the week with the other gift.

I had given both of her girls a girly owl card for their birthday, so I thought I would continue the theme. I started with a white card and used the beautiful Lap of Luxury DSP. The pattern on the DSP I used is so beautiful, that I didn't want to cover it all up and detract from it, so I used a smallish panel to sit my girly owl on. I dressed my owl up using another sheet from the same DSP pack, adding a ruffle skirt, bow and a bling necklace.

I finished the card off with some white taffeta ribbon , a rose, some trinket pins and a happy birthday banner.

Next I moved onto the acrylic post it note holder. I kept the them going, using the same DSP and owl to dress it up.

This would be great to leave by the phone or on your desk to jot down messages. I might make one for myself. I am always rummaging through my drawer looking for my post it notes!

I used some rub ons to make the words notes on the acrylic frame.

I added some grossgrain ribbon, a bow, a rose to match the card (don't you love that glitter!?) and a devine piece of bling at the top.

I think together this makes a lovely gift.

I also had a pen with a matching DSP insert, but hadn't completed it when I took the photos.
I am going to put this card into the I {HEART} Ribbon Challenge 7 over at Deesigns by Nina Dee.

I was very honoured yesterday to see that the uber talented Monika Davis aka M.A.D Stamper had given ME a blog award! I am so very honoured as I am a HUGE fan of her work! Thanks so much Monika!

This is the 'A Thing of Beauty Award'. I am to share 5 things about myself and pass it on to 5 people...I think??

So here goes:

1. I am a bit of a coffee addict. Especially on work days! It has gotten to the point that I stop on the way to work for a coffee each Tuesday and Wednesday morning!

2. Not only am I a coffee addict, I have become a bit of a coffee snob! I can't stand instant coffee anymore, I do drink it at work to keep me going though.....oh and if I am at your house and that is all you have, I will sometimes drink it then as well. ;)

3. I started out scrapbooking, which has now fallen by the wayside, and I have become addicted to cardmaking. I must get back and do some scrapping!

4. This year at school, I am teaching dance, along with the lovely Mrs P. I am not on a class.

5. I have an interest in photography. I have never really done much about it, although I did take photos at a wedding once. I have a book on photography that I never finished reading and my lovely hubby and family gave me a digital SLR for my birthday, but I only ever use it on auto! Although I do love it. It takes great pics, much better than my little pocket sized camera! I even have a zoom lens. I must get onto that....

I am going to pass this onto the 5 blogs that I have found recently and love!

1. Mindy at Bada Bing Papercrafting.

2. Jeni at Becoming Martha. Not strictly a papercrafting website, but boy is this girl clever! Do pop over and have a look.

3. Jen at I Create.

4. Leanne at WEEinklings. Doesn't this girl have some talent...and the cutest little granddaughter?!

5. Maureen at Mamma Mo Stamps. Another girl with some serious talent! I love everything she does!

Well with that long post over, I hope you are still with me and I haven't bored you too much!
I must finish here....off to fill in the census!

Anniversary Owls

Hi there!

Sorry for the lack of blogging over the few days, I have had little time to blog or create over the past week. I was busy with our open day concert at school, and now I once again have a sick child. She is resting in front of the TV at the moment so that I can post this and hopefully start on my list of 5 cards and a gift that should have been complete yesterday.

The card I have to show you today was made for my grandparents for their 60th Wedding Anniversary! Can you believe it, 60 years married! I wanted to make something special, and decided on some love bird owls. I tried to give it a bit of a vintage look as well.

What do you buy a couple who has been married 60 yrs! So I looked online to find the gift for a 60 yr anniversary and found that it was diamonds! As much as I love my grandparents, I can't afford diamonds,  plus I'm not sure my grandfather would appreciate diamonds all that much! :)

So I decided on a special card, and asked my florist to make me a vintage looking bouquet in colours to match my card. I also asked her to add some bling to the arrangement, and there I had some diamonds! My grandmother loved them both, which is most important.

Here is  close up of my love bird owls.

I decorated  the inside quite plainly as I wanted to leave enough room to write a special message!

I really should be off to start on my list of creations. I hope you are all having a lovely day!
