Mother's Day Card #2

Hi there!

Today I have another Mother's Day card for you. I know Mother's Day is over, but this card could also be adapted. It would make a great baby card as well, with the mother bird and chick.

I once again used the yummy colours of Crumbcake, Whisper White, Pretty in Pink and Pool Party. This card has quite a vintage feel. I enhanced the vintage look by sponging the details with Crumbcake ink to give an aged look.

I used the gorgeous SU! Vintage Wallpaper Embossing folder on the Pool Party CS. I so love this EF, it is so pretty. I then wiped my Whisper White ink pad over the embossed piece to give a more muted look. After that I sponged the edges with Crumbcake ink.

I embellished the card using some Twitterpated Buttons, Baker's Twine, a larger SU! Button, some rosettes and a love heart doily.

Happy Mother's Day

I hope all the Mother's out there had a wonderful Mother's Day today and felt loved and appreciated by those around them!

Today I have a Mother's Day card that I made for one of the Mother's in our family. If you have been reading my blog lately you would have noticed that I like to co-ordinate my gifts, cards and wrapping. Today's post is another example.

My card was inspired by a duo of cards that I had pinned on 'Pinterest'. The first one here, by the ever so talented Monika Davis over at 'M.A.D stamper'. I just love everything that Monika does, she is always such an inspiration. The second card can be found here, over at 'Lily Beans Paperie'.

I decided to go with a colour scheme of Crumbcake, Pretty in Pink, Whisper White and Pool Party. A favourite colour combo of mine at the moment, and inspired by Monika's card. Such pretty colours, that look stunning together.

I have used the gorgeous SU! Lace Border Punch, to punch the Whisper White band across the middle of the card. I embellished the card with some Basic Pearls, Twitterpated buttons, Baker's twine, a doily and some washi tape.

I used a square punch to cut the tails for my bunting flags. I can't believe I only discovered this technique not too long ago and have been hand cutting mine prior to that! Duh!

I even hand stitched the sentiment bunting to the card with some Baker's Twine. I love the stitched look on cards, but have never had the patience or the courage to do so! So I thought I would start the easy way with some hand stitching and work my way to some machine stitching!!! We will see. Hehe.

I wanted to add many small details to the card, so that each time you looked at it you noticed something different, without going overboard.

I was very happy with the way this card turned out. I am just so in love with this colour combo! While I was at it, I decided to make a matching bookmark to co-ordinate with this card. My Mother-in-law loves to read, so I thought this would be a great match.

Birdy Birthday Bunting

Hi there!

Today I have the card I made, to match with the gift boxed stationary from my last two posts.

The card was inspired by this gorgeous card, by Lea Lawson, over at Lea's cupcakes and sunshine.

I loved her use of bunting and the doily. Two of my favourite elements right now.

I started with a Crumbcake card base and added some Timeless Portrait DSP, to match the stationary and envelopes. The ribbon is the Island Indigo Ruffled Ribbon. Aren't those bunting pennants so cute?

I added some finishing touches of a button, flower, trinket pin, Basic Pearls and of course some BLING!

We had also purchased a gift certificate for the couple, so I made an envelope, which I decorated to match.

Below is a picture of both the gifts and the cards packaged in a gift bag, ready to go. I love matching my gift wrapping and the cards and presents. I love to use either Kraft or white paper bags/paper to wrap my gifts. They are so easy to personalise and match and look really effective too.

Pretty Packaging

Today, I am back to show you how I packaged the stationary set I showed in my last  post.

I had bundled the stationary up using Linen Thread, but wanted a box the recipient could keep the stationary in, once she had untied the bundle.

I found this gorgeous box made by the uber talented Monika Davis over at M.A.D Stamper. I used her box as a guide and came up with this:

I drew up the template for the box, using the stationary dimensions as a guide. I then cut and scored the box and used my SU! corner rounder punch to give a nice finish. The beauty of this style of box, is that no glue or tape is needed!

I used Crumbcake card stock for the box base. It is decorated with Timeless Portrait DSP, Lace Border Punch, Island Indigo Baker's Twine, Linen Thread, Basic Pearls, the yummy new SU! Satin Pleated Ribbon, and the jewellery tag punch for the initial tags (which I added at the last minute, to tie in with the monogram stationary). I also added a sparkly flower and heart trinket pin I had in my stash.

I used a magnetic snap to keep the box closed.

The dying art of letter writing

Hi there!

I was very happy when Miss 7 recently acquired a pen-pal. I had a pen-pal as a child and just loved it. I  always eagerly anticipated the arrival of a new letter in the post box and was always so excited to open mail with my name on it. Something children these days rarely have the opportunity to do, except for their birthday or the odd postcard.

I was therefore very happy when the mother of Miss 7's pen-pal agreed that she also preferred the traditional snail mail to the email version. The art of letter writing is definitely rare these days.

Miss 7 was so excited when her first letter arrived, and she has read it over and over! Speaking of, I must sit her down to write back! It has been a few weeks and I am sure her pen-pal is stalking the letterbox daily!

So, when I saw this beautiful handmade stationary on Shelli's Blog. I knew I had too make some. I 'Pinned' the stationary and filed it under 'gorgeous gift ideas'.

The stationary is made using the brown paper packaging from SU! orders! What a great way to use the paper! Sara also added her monogram, what a lovely touch.

Fast forward only a few days and I had to have a 40th birthday present, for a couple who are dear friends of ours. I had purchased a gift for them, but wanted something handmade to add to the gift for her. Luckily, I had saved the brown paper packing paper from my last SU! order, so I was ready to roll.

I made 8 different note card/ stationary sheets with matching envelopes, similar to Sara's. The sheets can be unfolded and written on as a entire sheet for a longer note or folded over and written in as a card for shorter notes.

I added my friends monogram to the corner, so quick and easy, but very striking!

The envelopes were made using Sara's instructions, open a SU! envelope and trace around it as a template. Easy, peasey!

I used a variety of stamp sets, including Timeless Portrait and Delicate Doilies.  The envelopes were made using the matching Timeless Portrait and Flirtatious DSP.

I packaged all of the cards and envelopes up, using some Linen Thread, a doily, a butterfly and a little wooden peg. I wrote a description on the doily for the recipient.

The butterfly was made using the Beautiful Wings embosslit die. I added a couple of pearls for some sparkle.

Our friend obviously liked her gift, as I have already recieved one of the stationary cards back in the mail, as a thank you note! Love it!

Bunny hop

Hi there.

Today's post is a little different, no card today. I have some Easter gifts that I made for Miss 7 to give to her friends at school.

I found this cute idea on Pinterest, you can find the printable and instructions here. A little late for this year, but you can be super organised for next year! Hehe.

How cute are these little bunnies holding their lollypops!

I printed these little fellas out onto Whisper White card stock and used glue dots to keep them all together.

Here they all are in their basket, ready to head off to school.

They seemed to be a hit with the kids, and were a great alternative to chocolate!

A little birdy told me..

Hi there!

Today I have a card that was made for a dear little friend of ours. I wanted something girly and vintage looking, to match her sweet style.

I decided to make a birdhouse and add a doily for the vintage look.

I have used a Crumbcake base, with Certainly Celery for the grass, Very Vanilla and Crumbcake for the birdhouse, which I stamped for a woodgrain look. I have used some of the gorgeous new Baker's twine for the bow, and the DSP is from the yummy new Twitterpatted series.

I added a doily and some little roses to give more of a vintage look. I wrapped the gift to match, using some seam binding, with a doily and gorgeous rose, glittered on the edges.
