Have a Sweet Birthday

While blog surfing earlier this week I came across Jenny's blog, Crafting in the Country. She had quite a few cards that took my fancy, she is such a clever lady. On one of the cards she had made three small lollipops using twine. I thought, 'What a genius and cute idea!'.

I began to think about how I could combine this with, this weeks A La Card Monkey sketch, which I'm really fond of (just in case you hadn't noticed!), and make another card for my kiddy stash.

This is what I came up with:

I decided to make one of those really big multi-coloured lollipops. I was happy with how it turned out. I used the polka dot embossing folder on the Whisper White cardstock and the paper at the bottom is from the Brights DSP stack. The sentiment is from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments set.

I used White Satin ribbon across the card, as the seam binding was too see through. But the bow is seam binding, with twine and some sticky backed Rhinestones.

I am also going to enter this card into a new challenge I found over at the Ribbon Carousel and the Birthday Sundaes circle challenge.

Materials:
(All SU unless otherwise stated)
Stamp sets: Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Cardstock/ DSP: Whisper White, Brights DSP Pad
Inks: Tempting Turquoise
Markers:
Accessories: Polka Dot Embossing Folder, Baker's Twine (own stash), Sticky Backed Rhinestones, Seam Binding, White Satin Ribbon, Daffodil Delight Taffeta Ribbon, Modern Label Punch

Hey there Chickadee

Today I have another version of the card I posted yesterday. This one is definitely girly!
Again I used the sketch from A La Card Monkey.

I am really loving these little button birds at the moment, so don't be surprised if you see more of them around here!

I have used the Welcome Neighbour DSP again and the card background was once again put through the Polka Dot Embossing Folder. The little heart 'chirp' is from the Love Defined Set.

Materials:
(All SU unless otherwise stated)
Stamp sets: Love Defined
Cardstock/ DSP: Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Welcome Neighbour DSP Pad
Inks: Regal Rose, Marina Mist
Markers: Basic Black
Accessories: Filagree Circle Punch, Polka Dot Embossing Folder, Baker's Twine (own stash), Big Button (own stash), Sticky Backed Black Pearl (own stash), Seam Binding, 2 Step Bird Punch, Resin Flower

Bird on a Wire...

I saw the cutest little birdy card over at My Ink Well. It was one of those cards where the birdy was made using a button. I just had to have a go at doing one of my own. I thought it would fit perfectly with this weeks 'It's time to be a Kid' challenge over at A La Card Monkey.

I don't own the stamp set that the ladies use, so I just hand drew the add ons with my basic black Stampin' Write Marker.

I have used Baja Breeze cardstock, with Early Espresso accents. The background was put through the Polka Dot Embossing Folder and the DSP is from the Welcome Neighbour DSP stack. The sentiment is from the Gunge Rock stamp set.

I made this card with a boy in mind... I'm not sure if it is boyish enough...what do you think? Please leave a comment and let me know your thoughts.

Materials:
(All SU unless otherwise stated)
Stamp sets: Grunge Rock
Cardstock/ DSP: Baja Breeze, Whisper White, Welcome Neighbour DSP Pad
Inks: Early Espresso
Markers: Basic Black
Accessories: 2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch, Polka Dot Embossing Folder, Baker's Twine (own stash), Big Designer Button, Sticky Backed Black Pearl (own stash), Early Espresso Grossgrain Ribbon, 2 Step Bird Punch

It's Time to be a Kid!

This is my third post today. Please scroll down to view the previous posts.

Sorry about all of the posts today! I would love to be able to save them up and spread them over the week, but when I am entering a card into a challenge, I like to post it and enter it in before I forget! The next two days are my working days, so if I schedule the posts, I either won't have time or will forget to add it to the challenge! So please bear with me!

This card is for the A La Card Monkey - It's Time to be a Kid challenge. It is a sketch and kid card challenge. I am loving this one, as it is a great sketch and it gives me the motivation to get a stash of cards together for my two little social butterflies to give to their friends. I am hoping to get a few entries together!

Here is the fab sketch:
The card I made is similar to one I made last week, (which I will show you later in the week) but I changed it up a little to suit the sketch. It uses my fave colours....you guessed it Melon Mambo and Regal Rose! :)

I have used the Brights Colour Stack DSP and the Perfect Princess Stamp set. The sentiment uses both the Princess stamp from the Perfect Princess set and the Happy Birthday from Teeny Tiny Sentiments.

The scallop circle I needed was bigger than the punch, so I punched a few scallops out and cut them up and glued them around the circle. I have added layers to the card by raising the tiara and the circle with dimensionals.

I am into using flowers, twine and seam binding for my ribbon detail at the moment. The seam binding makes such soft and pretty bows.

Thank you to everyone who has been leaving lovely comments. I really love to read them, they brighten my day! I have often been guilty of looking at, and loving people's work on their blog, but am always busy and will often move onto the next blog or job without leaving a comment. Lately I have been making an effort to take the time to leave a comment on the posts I mark in Google Reader or the work I admire in Challenge entries. I know how lovely it feels to receive and read a comment, so I am trying to spread the feeling!

Materials:
(All SU unless otherwise stated)
Stamp sets: Perfect Princess, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Cardstock/ DSP: Regal Rose, Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Brights DSP Pad
Inks: Melon Mambo
Markers:
Accessories: Scallop Circle Punch, Sticky Backed Rhinestones, Dimensionals, Seam Binding, Flowers (own stash), Baker's Twine (own stash)

A Garden of Buttons

This is my second post today. Please scroll down to see the previous post. :)

Hi there!

I am back with another entry for the CAS-ual Fridays Challenge. The challenge this week is to use buttons and twine on your card.

I'm not such a fan of this one, but it may grow on me! This card is a garden made of buttons.

A pretty simple and self explanatory card. I used the Scallop Trim Border to look like a fence, and the big yellow button is the sun.

I am trying to get a stash of cards together for emergencies. I usually like to make specific cards for specific people, but we all know that time doesn't always allow. I want to get a few thank you cards done, as I find these are often needed on the spur of the moment or when you don't have the time to whip one up!

Materials:
(All SU unless otherwise stated)
Stamp sets: Sweet Summer, Afterthoughts
Cardstock/ DSP: Regal Rose, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Welcome Neighbour DSP Pad
Inks: Regal Rose, Certainly Celery
Markers: Certainly Celery, Marina Mist
Accessories: Scallop Trim Border Punch, Decorative Label Punch, Baker's Twine (own stash), Assorted Buttons (own stash)

Faux Silk

I saw the faux silk technique and this beautiful card over at Mamma Mo Stamps. I just had to replicate it, as it was so beautiful. Making a few changes, I made this card for my mum for Mother's Day.

I used Pretty in Pink and Early Espresso card stock. The background stamp is the same one that Maureen used, I love it! It is the cherry blossoms branch from the Easter Blossoms set. I think Maureen may have put white card stock behind her tissue paper, but I liked the pink showing through. I used pearls on my card and added the pearl brad to the bow. I coloured the flowers in with a Pretty in Pink marker, which isn't really visible in this photo. The sentiment is from Well Scripted and was punched with the new decorative label punch in the Autumn-Winter Mini.

Here is a close up of the detail:

I decorated the inside quite simply, repeating the cherry blossom branch, the Scallop Trim border and a few pearls.

I hope all of the Mothers out there had a lovely Mother's Day.

Materials:
(All SU unless otherwise stated)
Stamp sets: Easter Blossoms, Well Scripted
Cardstock/ DSP: Pretty in Pink, Early Espresso, Whisper White
Inks: Early Espresso
Markers: Pretty in Pink
Accessories: Scallop Trim Border Punch, White tissue paper, Decorative Label Punch, Early Espresso Satin Ribbon, Sticky Backed Pearls, Pearl Brad (own stash)

LOVE

This is a quick and simple card I just whipped up while the girls were in the bath. It is for the new CAS-ual Fridays Challenge. It is a Clean and Simple challenge as the website name suggests. This week the challenge was to make a CAS card with buttons and twine.

I took the theme of love and used a variety of buttons in different colours and sizes. I added Baker's Twine to some of the buttons. The sentiment is from the Love Defined set and I have used my Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker to draw a border.

Here is a close up of the detail:

What a Delight!

Hi there!

Today I am going to show you a Mother's Day card I made for my Mother in Law. Be prepared, as it isn't my usual colour choice.....but I do like it! It was inspired by a card made by the very talented Monika Davis.  I saw her card and thought, wow, that is bright....but effective.....and i like it! So here is my Daffodil Delight!

Obviously the colours are Daffodil Delight.....Crumb Cake and Whisper White. I have used the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder on the Daffodil card. The background stamp on the Crumb Cake card is from the Easter Blossoms Set and the sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments. The main flower and stamped leaves are from the Petal Pizzazz set and the punched white stems are from the 2 Step Bird Punch. I have used the Mat Pack and the Paper Piercing Tool to pierce the tiny holes. The 'for you' sentiment is stamped onto a piece of card, punched with the Modern Label Punch and layered onto a piece of Vanilla Card, punched with the Oval Punch. I have used the Scallop Trim Border Punch to add the Crumb Cake detail at the top. The ribbon detail is finished with a Big Designer Button, Rhinestones and Baker's Twine. Here is a close up of the detail:

I also replicated the flower detail on the inside of the card:

As I've said before, I love to match the present wrapping with the card (when I have time!). So I have used the flower detail once again on the package. I coloured some Seam Binding with my SU! Markers to make some ribbon leaves.

I will be back to show you the card that I made for my mum soon.

Materials:
(All SU unless otherwise stated)
Stamp sets: Petal Pizzazz, Easter Blossoms, Teeny Tiny Sentiments
Cardstock/ DSP: Whisper White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight
Inks: Crumb Cake, Daffodil Delight
Markers: Old Olive
Accessories: Scallop Trim Border Punch, Big Designer Button, Baker's Twine (own stash), Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, 2 Step Bird Punch, Modern Label Punch, Oval Punch, Mat Pack, Paper Piercing Tool, Rhinestones (own stash)

And it's back!!

Blogger is back! Did you all have withdrawals when Blogger went down like I did? No posts in Google Reader, no commenting on posts and no posting of my own!

Today I have one of those cards that we wish we don't have to make, but unfortunately sometimes do. A sympathy card.

I have used last weeks sketch from A La Card Monkey. Last weeks, as the challenge closed while Blogger was down, so I couldn't post my card. Luckily for me Terry over at A La Card Monkey kindly posted my pic on their site for me. Thanks Terry! Here is the sketch:

The Challenge this week was to follow the sketch and use some flowers on your card. I have used Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White and Crumb Cake as my colour palette. I love the Manhattan Flower embossing folder, but haven't had a chance to give it much use, so I pulled it out for this challenge.

I also used the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing folder for the background and the sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments. I have finished it off with a double bow using Seam Binding and some green flowers. Here is a close up of the ribbon/flower detail:
I wanted to keep the inside pretty simple as I wanted to leave a fair bit of room to write. I have stamped one of the flowers from Fifth Avenue Floral to match the Manhattan Embossing Folder.

Materials:
(All SU unless otherwise stated)
Stamp sets: Teeny Tiny Sentiments, Fifth Avenue Floral
Cardstock/ DSP: Crumb Cake,Whisper White, Pear Pizzazz
Inks: Pear Pizzazz
Markers:
Accessories: Seam Binding, Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, Manhattan Flower Embossing Folder, Flowers (own stash), Scallop Trim Border Punch

Beveled Windowpanes

Today's card uses a few of my new products and is a case of this card by the very talented Andrea Walford.
I recently purchased the Beveled Windowpanes from the new SU! mini, and combined these with one of the new stamps from my challenge winnings from A La Card Monkey. Thank you , ladies! The ice cream sundae, cherry image and sentiment are from the Goody-Goody Gumdrops set.

I chose the colours Chocolate Chip and Regal Rose, as they seemed like fitting colours for an ice cream sundae. I fastened the ribbon with some Rhinestone Brads and added some extra bling to the Top Note.

I also decorated the inside, I kept it simple as you can see here.
Materials:
(All SU unless otherwise stated)
Stamp sets: Goody-Goody Gumdrops
Cardstock/ DSP: Chocloate Chip, Regal Rose, DSP Colour Stack, Whisper White
Inks: Chocolate Chip
Markers: Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip, Rose Red

Raise Your Paw - Monkey Challenge #54

I have been very quiet on the challenge front lately, but the Challenge over at A La Card Monkey this week inspired me. It is a sketch/animal challenge. You can use an image of any animal you like and pair it with their sketch.

My card was inspired by Maureen Merritt over at Mama Mo Stamps. I loved the colour combination and image/technique that she used. I have been admiring the Upsy Daisy stamp set for some time now, but only just purchased it this week. This is its first inking!

I have seen the shadow stamping technique done many times using the Upsy Daisy image and have been wanting to give it a go.

I first stamped the image in Crumb Cake and then in Early Espresso. I tore the edge of a piece of card and sponged the edge using Marina Mist ink. I moved and rotated the piece of card across the image as I sponged in a circular motion. I then added a strip of  card, using the Square Lattice embossing folder and the scallop edge punch. I finished it off with some Baker's Twine and a Big Designer Button from the Sweet Stitches range.

I added the Butterfly from the Bliss Sale-a-bration set. I think it adds to the peacefulness of the colour combination and shadow effect. I haven't used a sentiment. I'm not sure if I will. I'm also not sure of the occasion of the card as yet, so I may add one at a later time.

The very generous ladies over at A La Card Monkey are once again giving away some SU! product as part of this challenge. Please head over and join in or leave some comment love for the participants.

I will be back shortly to share a card using the very generous prize I won in the very first A La Card Monkey challenge. These are two very generous ladies , let me tell you! (Hi Terry and Shirley!!)
